Sunshine Law
The Gainesville & Alachua County TPO operates under Florida's Government-in-the-Sunshine law. This law provides the right of access for the public to governmental proceedings at both the state and local levels. It applies to any gathering of two or more members of the same board to discuss some matter which will come before that board for action in the foreseeable future. The law is applicable to any gathering, whether formal or casual, of two or more members of the same board or commission. Therefore, all meetings of the Gainesville & Alachua County TPO Board and its committees are open to the public. In addition, reasonable notice of meetings of the board and committee meetings must be given.
